Z-Trip

Z-Trip: The Dynamic Duo of Electronic and Hip-Hop

Amidst the bustling electronic music scene, Z-Trip emerged as a tour de force, fusing the infectious energy of hip-hop with the hypnotic beats of electronica. The duo, consisting of DJ/producer Z-Trip and vocalist/MC Double K, embarked on a musical journey marked by both triumphs and tribulations.

Early Beginnings and Challenges

Z-Trip, born Zach Sciacca, honed his skills as a DJ in the late 1990s, quickly gaining recognition for his eclectic sets that spanned genres from hip-hop to drum and bass. Double K, known for his lyrical prowess and charismatic stage presence, joined Z-Trip in 2002, forming the dynamic duo that would become Z-Trip.

However, their path to success was not without obstacles. In 2004, Z-Trip faced legal challenges over copyright infringement, prompting the duo to release their debut album, "Shifting Gears," under a new label.

Discography and Breakthrough

Undeterred by the setbacks, Z-Trip released their sophomore album, "Music for the Head," in 2006. This album showcased their signature sound, blending hip-hop, electro, and funk with a dash of psychedelic flair. The lead single, "Everything Changes," propelled the album to critical and commercial success, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Their subsequent albums, including "Make Believe" (2008), "Jet Set Trash" (2011), and "All My Friends Are DJs" (2016), further cemented their status as one of the most prominent electronic music acts of the 21st century.

Collaborations and Controversies

Throughout their career, Z-Trip has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including the likes of Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, and M.I.A. These collaborations have pushed the boundaries of musical genres and garnered widespread praise.

However, the duo has also faced controversy over their use of samples in their music. In 2009, they were sued by the band Led Zeppelin over the unauthorized use of a sample in their song "Tequila Mockingbird." The case was eventually settled out of court.

Z-Trip is comprised of two core members:
